JE Dunn Construction Vice President Pat Arrington has received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from Auburn University’s McWhorter School of Building Science. This award honors his exceptional career and contributions to the construction industry. The award was presented earlier this month at Auburn University.

A 1985 graduate of Auburn’s Building Science program, Arrington has built a distinguished career spanning four decades. Since joining JE Dunn, he has championed the firm’s values through his commitment to integrity, teamwork, and mentorship. His work has influenced some of the region’s most notable projects with clients such as Emory University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Ron Clark Academy, University of Georgia, and Georgia Power. His leadership and guidance have helped shape the next generation of construction professionals. Arrington remains passionate about developing young talent and ensuring that each project strengthens both the client relationship and the community it serves.

“I couldn’t have received this award without the unwavering support from everyone at JE Dunn who has enabled me to become the person I am today,” said Arrington. “Auburn instilled in me a deep respect for the craft of building, but JE Dunn has given me the platform to lead, grow, and give back.”

At Auburn, Arrington was a standout student-athlete, lettering in football from 1981 to 1983 as an offensive lineman (#76). He earned First Team All-SEC and Second Team All-American honors in 1983 and remains an active member of the Auburn Football Lettermen Club. He is also a Darlington School alumnus and Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame inductee, recognized for his accomplishments in football and track and field.

“Pat’s career is a testament to what it means to be a builder in every sense of the word,” said Dan Kauffman, East Region President at JE Dunn. “He’s built projects that transform skylines, relationships that strengthen communities, and a culture that inspires excellence. We are proud to see Auburn recognize what we at JE Dunn have long known: Pat is one of the best in our industry.”

The Study Hall is a proud recipient of a $50,000 grant from JE Dunn Construction. Inspired by the success of the “Building a Legacy” Centennial campaign in 2024, JE Dunn’s Community Impact team has launched the Cornerstone Campaign. Through this new initiative, JE Dunn will donate $1 million+ each year to a charitable cause that its employees select. Cornerstone Campaign donations supplement the company’s existing annual giving.

JE Dunn employees chose “Access to safe and supportive spaces for kids in need” as the focus for the 2025 Cornerstone Campaign.

Employees nationwide nominated organizations within the cause area, which were then thoroughly vetted by the Community Impact team and the national Cornerstone Committee to identify up to four grantees per region through an invitation-only grant process.

This year, the Southeast Region’s nominee, The Study Hall was selected as a grant recipient.

“After 10 years on The Study Hall’s board, I’ve seen firsthand the remarkable impact this organization has on the lives of children in Atlanta,” said Brent Strength, senior vice president at JE Dunn Construction. “I’m excited to see this grant help sustain this nurturing environment where kids feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow.”

The Study Hall is an after-school and summer camp program offering an educational and enrichment curriculum for kindergarten through fifth grade children in Atlanta. The organization received this grant on June 4 and will use this money toward their summer camp program, Camp Exploration, and supporting their program enrichment activities during the upcoming school year.

“We are delighted to be the recipient for the Southeast region.”  said Jacquetta Watkins, executive director at The Study Hall. “The Study Hall is proud to have served Atlanta’s youth for 35 years and counting. This investment in our work assists us with more resources to create a greater impact in our young scholars’ lives.  We’re grateful and thankful.”

“The Study Hall exemplifies the powerful impact our employees and company are making through this year’s Cornerstone Campaign mission,” said Stuart Bruening, office leader of JE Dunn Construction in Atlanta. “It’s about giving back and building brighter futures for kids in our communities, here in Atlanta and beyond.”

JE Dunn partnered with repeat client Berry College to complete the renovation of two historic buildings, Thomas Berry Hall constructed in 1931, and Evans Hall constructed in 1911. With a tight schedule designed to complete the work during the summer semester, the projects addressed updates to student housing and critical MEP upgrades.

Thomas Berry Hall, a 26,000 square foot suite-style residence for 145 students, underwent a complete renovation, preserving the building’s historic facade while updating shared kitchens, bathrooms, common areas, and a faculty apartment. Other key improvements include the installation of energy-efficient windows and HVAC systems in addition to a new roof.

Evans Hall, home to the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, received a full HVAC system overhaul to improve both energy efficiency and air quality. The windows and blinds were replaced to enhance the HVAC system’s performance, and the ductwork was thoroughly cleaned and updated. Additional work included underground utility repairs, gutter restoration, window and door replacements, and landscaping improvements.
